Halloween By The Numbers

Most people would guess that more money is spent each Christmas than other holidays when it comes to gifts, decorations and food. They're probably right, but Halloween certainly falls in the top ten. Would you believe that an estimated $10 Billion dollars will be spent on our spooky celebrations this year? Of that number, three billion dollars will be spent on candy and over three billion dollars will be spent on costumes. Think of the haunted houses. It's estimated they will take in over $300 million dollars in revenue this year from ticket sales.

In other Halloween related numbers, a recent Halloween survey found that 79% of parents admit to stealing candy from their kids. Eighty-two percent are confident they will find safe and creative ways to celebrate the Halloween season. Thirty-one percent of parents think 13 and 14 years old is old enough to trick-or-treat alone. I'm of the opinion that 13, 14 years old and older is too old to trick-or-treat. Maybe this one applies to you. Twenty-one percent of adults admit they pretend they are not at home on Trick-or-Treat Night so they don't have to pass out candy. Boo-Hummbug!
