In this class you will learn to create a colorful turkey using a craft called needle felting. Needle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact in order to create a two-dimensional flat piece or three-dimensional sculpture.
We will start with the turkey tail feathers giving you a chance to get comfortable with needle felting on a flat surface. You will then learn how to create a core shape, how to wrap roving around the shape to begin the needle felting process, and how to create other three-dimensional shapes such as a neck, beak, and wattle. Needle felting skills learned in this class will enable you to create other felted projects on your own.
This class is more involved than some, but geared towards beginners as well as those with previous felting experience. Creativity is not a requirement and there are no mistakes when it comes to this fun craft.
