Imagine being paid not to work for an entire year. That’s a real dream-come-true for one worker in China who recently won his company’s grand prize raffle and became the envy of everyone on Chinese social media. While some employers might offer incentives like an all-expense paid vacation or a gift card, this company held a raffle with the grand prize being 365 days of paid leave. A video of the winner receiving his prize has gone viral, but many on social media have suggested that the company may have more nefarious motives. Some think the job may not be there when he gets back. Others think the company may figure out that it can get by without him and not ask him back.
