The Finals Are Set In Our "Next Country Star" Contest

Garrett George of Mt. Gilead was chosen the winner of second semi-final in "The Next Country Star Contest" conducted by iHeartRadio stations WMRN in Marion and WNCO-FM. The 18-year old from Mt. Gilead was chosen the winner over four other singers by a panel of three judges Thursday night at Amvets Post 87 in Mt. Gilead. He performed his version of the Chris Stapleton hit "Cold". George's opponent in the final will be Tamela Knight.

Tamela Knight of Marion was chosen the winner of semi-final round 1 held Thursday May 25th at Amato's Wood Fired Pizza in Marion. Knight won the semi-final with her version of Lainey Wilson's Hillbilly Hippie. Knight and George will each perform Thursday June 22nd at Freedom Fest Ohio at the Morrow County Fairgrounds in Mt. Gilead. Their battle will proceed the opening act Jess Kellie Adams. The same panel of judges will then determine the winner or "Next Country Star" who will return to open the show Saturday evening June 24th.

Tickets are available at www.freedomfestohio.com Parmalee and Craig Morgan fill out the line-up for Thursday. The Reeves Brothers, and co-headliners Chris Jansen and Justin Moore play Saturday.
