Catch the early bird Early dinners aren't just for seniors anymore. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, more and more Americans of all ages are choosing to dine out as early as 5 p.m. nowadays. Eating dinner late used to be trendy, but now it's become annoying because restaurants were getting too crowded, and diners had a harder time getting a reservation in the hottest restaurants. So, people started eating earlier to beat the crowds … and discovered that they like it better. Some restaurant owners have noticed the shift in dinner time noting that the busiest time used to be during the 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. window, and now it's between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. According to Yelp, restaurants are seating 10% of diners between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., which is up 5% from 2019.
