Wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving from me and my friends at Kingston of Ashland. What a great group of people they are, so friendly and helpful. In just the past few weeks they have taught me so much about skilled nursing short term rehabilitation and long term care and what that means for my family.
We Applebys have a lot to be thankful for this year including we'll all be together for another holiday. I'm also thankful for the knowledge I've gained from the staff at Kingston of Ashland in regards to rehabbing from an injury and the options available for long term care.
Discussing the what-if's in life is something that no one really wants to do, but it's something that needs to be done. So if nothing else let this message serve as a starting point. If you find yourself standing in the kitchen with Mom or watching the games with Dad, ask them what plans they've made for when the day comes they can no longer take care of themselves. They'll probably respond by telling you that "today is not the day", or "can we talk about later", "don't ruin this happy occasion with such talk". This Thanksgiving is the perfect time to talk, if nothing else to get the ball rolling. Get all the siblings involved. If nothing else you are letting your aging parents know you care and that you understand they won't be able to take care of themselves forever. Then make plans , as a group, to tour Kingston of Ashland. You can do that at www.kingstonhealthcare.com.
Be thankful we have Kingston of Ashland as a part of our community. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
