Mansfield Police Investigating Homicide At Motel, Searching For Suspect

Subject: Homicide Investigation

At approximately 1:39AM this morning, the Mansfield Division of Police responded to the Motel 6 located at 555 N. Trimble Road in reference to a shooting. Upon officer’s arrival, two victims were found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A 29-year-old white female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and rushed into surgery. Her condition is unknown at this time as she is still being treated. The 48-yearold black male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s names are not being released at this time as family notifications are pending. The Ohio Bureau of Investigation (BCI) has been called in to process the crime scene.

The suspect in the shootings was immediately identified as Earl C. Jefferson II, a 43-year-old black male, who fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. Mr. Jefferson II remains at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He may be driving a black colored, 4-door vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet. A felony warrant for “Murder” (F-1) has been issued for Earl C. Jefferson II and several locations have already been checked as law enforcement continue to search for him.

Attached are two photos of Mr. Jefferson II with different hair styles. If anyone comes into contact with Mr. Jefferson II, please do not approach him and call 911 and/or the local police department immediately.
