Good news looks like it could be on the way for the Shelby Health Department.

State Senator Mark Romanchuk says there was a provision in the state budget to merge health departments with cities of less than 50,000 people into the county health department.

Romanchuk says it’s not a done deal yet, but it doesn’t look like Shelby will have to merge with Richland Public Health. Romanchuk hopes that will be the case, but says it’s still not over the finish line.
