FREE OUTDOOR MOVIES FOR FAMILIES THIS SUMMER AT THE REN
MANSFIELD, OHIO. Join the Renaissance Theatre for free movie nights featuring three beloved Disney and Pixar Movies: Disney’s Encanto, Luca, and Pixar’s Toy Story. Movies will be shown in the Plaza, located between the Historic Renaissance Theatre and Theatre 166, the grassy area visible from Park Avenue West. Encanto will be shown Wednesday, June 21 at 8:30 pm. Luca can be seen on July 19 at 8:30pm, and Toy Story will be shown on August 16, at 8:30pm. The Renaissance Theatre is grateful for the Richland County Foundation for their support which allows these events to take place for the Mansfield community. Join us at 7:30 before each movie for some fun family games and be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy free popcorn!
On June 21, audiences can join the family, Madrigal and their extraordinary Encanto hidden in the mountains of Columbia. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift -- every child except Mirabel. However, she soon may be the Madrigal's last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger.
Less than a month later, on July 19, dive in with Luca and his newfound best friend, Alberto. Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original animated feature is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with Alberto, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water's surface.
Closing our Plaza movies for the summer on August 16, is Toy Story. In a world where toys come alive, the world's first computer-animated movie focuses on the toys of Andy Davis and centers on his favorite toy, a pull-string cowboy doll named Woody, worrying about being replaced by Andy's newest toy, a space ranger named Buzz Lightyear. When Woody and Buzz are suddenly trapped in the house of Andy's toy-killing neighbor Sid Phillips and his vicious dog Scud, they must work together to escape if they ever want to return to Andy's house.
Pictures on the Plaza is a program directly tied to the mission of the Renaissance to provide experiences that engage everyone in our community. One of the driving forces behind the development of this program is Renaissance Director of Community Engagement Maddie Penwell.
"Pictures on the Plaza is a unique program for community members to enjoy the outdoors, experience big-screen cinema, and get to know local organizations better!" shared Penwell.
