Ashland Salvation Army: There Are Red Kettles, Then There's THIS Red Kettle

Salvation Army's Giant Red Kettle

Imagine filling this red kettle with money for the holidays. We could feed the needy in the Ashland area for years! The Ashland Salvation Army staged this year's Rescue Christmas Red Kettle campaign launch under the bright lights of Ashland Community Stadium Thursday Night. It was an actual Kick-Off Contest. The object of the competition was for each kicker to try and kick a football into, or at least hit, the kettle. Four kickers from Ashland area schools were in attendance. Representing Crestview High School were grad Carly Stevens, now a special teams coach at Crestview and sophomore Devin Holloway. The Ashland Arrows were represented by senior Isaac Roop and Junior Bryant Hosse. While no kicker's effort landed inside the giant kettle some bounced off the kettle or the trailer supporting it. You will soon see The Salvation Army's (normal size) red kettles at retail outlets around the area. Due to COVID-19 requests for assistance are at an all-time high. The Ashland Salvation Army estimates that as many as 600 families will need help this year.
