On July 7, 1956, a country music singer from Arkansas met a member of Country Music's royal family and told her they one day the two would be wed. The 65th Anniversary of the day Johnny Cash met June Carter backstage at The Ryman Auditorium will be the subject of a special exhibit that opens at The Ryman Wednesday July 8th. The new attraction, the work of The Ryman and The Johnny Cash Museum, will feature artifacts from both Johnny and June's careers and will be open to public viewing during the Ryman's daytime hours. Johnny Cash made his Grand Ole Opry debut on July 7, 1956. It was on that night June Carter bumped into Johnny backstage. He reportedly told June, that night, that he knew he was going to marry her. That he did. Thirteen years later, while on tour in London, Ontario, Canada, Johnny would propose to June. They would wed March 1, 1968. They had one child together, John Carter Cash, and stayed married until June passed in May of 2003. Johnny would die four months later.
