Mark you calendars for Thursday evening October 28th. That will be the City of Ashland's Trick-or-Treat night! The annual event will be held rain or shine. Ashland Mayor Matt Miller told WNCO "The last several years, I know, the weather has been very threatening to some so there have been some concerns about holding trick-or-treat regardless of the weather, but that's the stance we have taken as a city and it's worked out these last several years." Miller went on to announce that the city has added one hour to trick-or-treat which will now run from 5pm to 7pm. The extra hour is designed to give Moms and Dads more time to get the kids into their costumes and out to the neighborhoods.

Mayor Miller, a Halloween fan, remembers fondly his mother making for him a scarecrow costume out of brown paper bags from Hawkins Market. The costume was complete with a fringed vest and pants along with a hat. He was in first or second grade at the time.
