Today we celebrate an industry that began in Glasgow 1826, nearly 200 years ago. I'm talking about the comic book. My relationship with comic books began in the 1960's and was limited to superheroes. I was not one of those kids who collected every issue of every hero and kept them in pristine condition. My love for these characters actually grew from the television shows. The old black and white Superman reruns, Batman with Adam West and Burt Ward and the Saturday cartoons. I watched Spider-man, Green Lantern, Thor, Hercules, Justice League, Super Friends, Fantastic Four and many others I'm sure. They leaped from those brightly colored pages to the small screen and now are a multi-billion dollar movie industry. For today though we honor their origins on the pages of comic books.
