Does "It" Make Matt Appleby's Top Ten Scary Movie List?

I love Halloween season. I enjoy trick-or-treat and kids in costumes coming around one night a year for candy. I love how my wife decorates for the season and seeing our grandkids in their costumes heading out for beggers' night. Heck I even like Candy Corn! When it comes to more adult fare, for me Halloween means scary movies.

Recently we've watched, "Scream", "It" and "The Conjuring". There are so many others to choose from that we have loved. Which ones would I recommend, you ask? Well I could break them down into sub-genres such as Slasher films (Halloween, Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street), Haunted Dwellings (Amityville Horror, The Conjuring, Poltergeist, The Shining), Creatures (Jaws, Piranha, Lake Placid), Possession (The Exorcist, Annabelle, Carrie), Serial Killers (Silence of the Lambs, Psycho and previous mentioned slashers) Sci-Fi (Aliens), Classic Monsters (Frankenstein, Dracula, Werewolf), Evil Clowns (It, Killer Clowns From Outer Space) and what I call Isolation (The Strangers, Blair Witch Project). There are other sub-genres, I'm sure, and you likely don't agree with which films I've placed where. Some, obviously, belong in multiple categories. You can argue all you want. While you are doing that, and for the purposes of this blog, we'll continue on. Here are my Top Ten Favorite Scary Movies.
