Look at that face! That sweet kissable mug! What's it's name? Oh, you haven't picked one yet? Well the folks at Trupanion have some suggestions.
Trupanion, a leader in medical insurance for pets, wanted to know what names our new little four legged friends across the country would come running to. So, we analyzed our database of more than 650,000 insured pets to determine the top 10 puppy names of 2022. Luna and Charlie hold on to the top spots at #1 and #2 respectively, while Bella crosses the line by a paw - overtaking Cooper as the third most popular puppy name. And, a shout out to all of the Rosie’s out there, as she slips into this year’s list at #10.
Top 10 puppy names for 2022
My wife and I had a Yorkie named Murphy but since he passed we have not gotten a new pup. If we did, we'd probably get two. I've always said, half jokingly, we'd get a boy and a girl and name them Harry & Sally (from one of our favorite movies) or Hannibal and Clarice (from another favorite movie). I've also wondered about the reaction I'd get from the neighbors when I holler out the back door for "Haaaaannnnnniiibbbbaaaalllllll" to come in the house. I shouldn't care but people can be so judgmental.
A new survey found that more than 60% of people admit to judging people based on the name they give their pet. The survey also found that 85% of pet owners have given their pet at least one nickname. And 66% of those say they use the nickname over the pet’s real name. Our Yorkie had several including Murf, and Murphy-Smurphy.
