Ohio Boater Education Course

Perrysville, OH-  Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) at Pleasant Hill Lake Park will be offering the Ohio Boating Education Courses (OBEC) this season, with a general course on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 and Kids OBEC course on June 27-28, 2022. This course is FREE and open to the public. The eight-hour course developed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks & Watercraft includes Oho boating laws, safety equipment, accident prevention and operating rules. This course meets Ohio’s boating education requirement that went into effect January 1, 2000.

Ohio’s boating education regulation requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1982, to show proof of completing an approved boating safety or proficiency test before operating a boat more than 10 horsepower. The certificate of completion of this classroom course is recognized nationwide and meets boating education requirements in all fifty states and Canada.

Boaters interested in taking the course may register online at https://pleasanthillpark.mwcd.org/calendar/2022/04/30/ohio-boating-education-course

For information on additional courses visit mwcd.org or watercraft.ohio.gov. The June 27-28, 2022 two-day course is specifically designed for kids ages 12-18 years of age. The difference is that we will spend about 50% in classroom and 50% on water practical experience to help reinforce and provide hands on learning of boating safety and requirements. Class size is limited so early registration is recommended. Still time to register.
