If you can't talk to a therapist, talk to yourself!...You can take some of the pressure off in stressful times by reassuring yourself with some simple affirmations. Neuropsychologist Dr. Sanam Hafeez suggests you battle those issues with mantras such as:

  • I am brave.
  • I choose to let go of worry and focus on the present moment.
  • I am in control.
  • I am not in danger, I am just uncomfortable.
  • I trust in my ability to cope with whatever comes my way.
  • I am capable of handling challenges and obstacles.
  • I have the power to create positive outcomes for myself.
  • My presence is enjoyed by those around me.
  • It’s OK to be anxious, but I can get through it.
  • I am surrounded by positive energy.
