It's Best Friends Day

Celebrate your BFFs today. It's National Best Friends Day! Do you have one? More than one? If yes then you are blessed. I'm really lucky in that department. Lucky that a handful of people in my life have stuck with me for many many years when maybe I didn't deserve it. I married one (Thank you Kelly!) , one passed away and, now that I think about it, the others moved out of state. Heck two of those guys served as a groomsman for me twice! But what's great about our friendship is it's always there. When we talk, or text or send greeting cards, the bond remains strong. It's as if no time has passed. One of those friends I met at my first job in Ashland (Hawkins Market on Center Street) about 44 years ago, one in college, one at the radio station, another when I worked a side hustle at the record store at the mall and yet another when the radio station became a television station. Things like sports, music, movies, television, concerts, and comedy are all common ground. Those and a love for family which we all consider each other.

How would you answer the following questions as you think about your best friends? -Matt Appleby

  • How long have you and your best friend known each other?
  •  How often do you talk to your BFF? Once a week? Once a day? Once an hour?
  •  Does your best friend know more about you than your significant other? Do you confide in your BFF more than your partner?
  •  What's the best thing you've ever done with your BFF?
  •  What’s the most trouble you and your BFF have gotten into together?
