It's been a hotter-than-normal summer, but that hasn't stopped plenty of people from getting outside and exercising -- or even competing in strenuous races.

According to a new survey, 43% of athletes are not preparing enough for hot conditions.

This, of course, is a problem because heat stroke is no joke. It can lead to serious health problems -- and even death.

Staying safe isn't that complicated. Staying hydrated is key. And so is staying in communication with others, just in case you get stranded out there.
