The United States of Halloween candy ... Everywhere you go, stores are fully stocked with candy for Halloween, and the National Retail Federation says Americans are projected to spend a record $3.6 billion on candy this year. Which candy you buy might depend on which state you live in. CandyStore.com, as they've done every year, has created a U.S. map projecting the most popular candies state by state, based on sales data. This year, the most popular candies are M&Ms (7 states), Sour Patch Kids (6 states), and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (5 states). Hersey's Miniatures and Butterfingers are also getting a lot of love. Interestingly, Hot Tamales -- the cinnamon candy with a kick -- is most popular in Minnesota, New Mexico, and North Dakota. And Utah is the only state showing love for candy corn.
