OSU Mansfield Now Offers Ability to Complete Bachelors’ Degrees in Biology

Mansfield, Ohio – August 29, 2024 – The Ohio State University at Mansfield is excited to announce that students can now earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Biology on the Mansfield campus. Students can complete all coursework for specialization in either Pre-health Professions or Integrated General Biology.

“These new biology degree offerings respond to students wanting to pursue an Ohio State degree close to home on the Mansfield campus,” said Jason Opal, Dean and Director of Ohio State Mansfield. “By preparing students for all kinds of careers based in the biological sciences, we're also positioning Ohio State Mansfield to address critical and long-term workforce needs in our region. This is another way we serve the people of Ohio.”

According to Team NEO, the demand for workers in the health sciences far exceeds the supply in Northeast Ohio, Ohio State Mansfield has already begun collaborating with local employers, such as Charles River Laboratories in Ashland, Ohio, to provide students scholarships and access to internships and other practical experience. The campus looks forward to creating more partnerships to enhance student learning and career readiness.

To celebrate the launch of these new degree options, the Mansfield campus Career Services office is hosting Biology Blitz Days Sept. 9 and 10 on the campus of Ohio State Mansfield. The celebration features five different panels discussing important issues and career opportunities in the biological and health sciences, providing students and the community with insights into the field and its future and opportunity to network with professionals.
