The Richland County Board of Commissioners proudly announces the completion of a comprehensive, four-year renovation of the County Administration Building and Courthouse, marking a major milestone in the County’s ongoing commitment to efficient government, public safety, and employee well-being. Completed with no debt incurred, the project represents a significant long-term investment in public service and infrastructure for the residents of Richland County.
The multi-year initiative modernized critical public spaces, expanded courtroom capacity, and upgraded aging infrastructure throughout the facility—much of which dated back to the building’s original construction in 1968.
Project Highlights Include:
Expanded Court Capacity: Relocation of the Clerk of Courts in fall 2024 enabled construction of a new 2,700-square-foot Common Pleas General Division courtroom. This 4th courtroom significantly increases public courtroom availability by reducing delays in trials and hearings.
Modernized Public Spaces: Approximately 4,600 square feet of high-traffic common areas—refreshed with brighter finishes, new ceilings, energy-efficient lighting, and upgraded seating.
Reimagined Land Bank Offices: Formerly outdated space, including a former jail area, fully repurposed with customized workspaces, new walls and doors, a state-of-the-art boardroom, and enhanced public seating.
Employee and Visitor Improvements: All 10 restrooms fully renovated for the first time since the building opened, with modern fixtures and ADA-compliant accessibility. New amenities include a break room, an upgraded employee fitness area, and a new Community Control training room.
Infrastructure and Security Upgrades: Fire protection, electrical, HVAC, and security systems modernized with advanced digital controls to ensure long-term safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
