Dasha unleashed her own version of an “angsty,” “Gen Z anthem” that she connected with as a teen.

The “Austin” hitmaker and line-dancing queen, 26, delivered her version of “She’s So Gone” on Friday (April 3). The “deep cut” appeared in the Disney Channel original, Lemonade Mouth, in 2011. Dasha’s version is part of Main Street Country, a 5-track EP featuring modern country twists on classic Disney songs. The new country installment in the music series follows 2024’s A Whole New Sound, a successful compilation of pop-punk covers of Disney classics. Other artists on Main Street Country include Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn Brown (“Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast), Restless Road (“The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie), Maddie & Tae (“You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan), and BRELAND (“Go the Distance” from Hercules).

“There’s the obvious picks…but I kind of wanted a deep cut that I loved growing up,” Dasha told iHeartCountry of her song selection. “I remember watching Lemonade Mouth in mid-high school and just loving the song ‘She’s So Gone.’ The character Mo sings it, and it’s so angsty about being a woman and changing from who you were as a kid. It’s such a beautiful song that I know I relate to, and I know a lot of young girls relate to as they grow up. This is like a Gen Z anthem. I’ve had this song genuinely saved in my library since high school, and I forgot about it. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, this song is perfect.’ …Genuinely, I remember going to the gym and putting this song on because it bangs! It’s a good song. It’s cool having a reason to bring it back into my life and getting to cover it.”

Dasha teamed up with her brother to record her version of “She’s So Gone,” as the sibling duo work on her upcoming album. The California-born singer-songwriter said the Lemonade Mouth anthem is “an elevation of what we’ve got going on right now. I’m really excited about the music. I think it tells a lot about my personality, who I am, where I come from, and it’s just fun, summer, banger music, honestly. It’s party music.

“I feel like a lot of my songs and my message as an artist comes from empowerment, and empowering women to be as bada** as they want to be in this world, and ‘She’s So Gone’ is exactly that,” she added. “You know, like, ‘I’m not who I was, you don’t recognize me, I’m who I am now,’ you know, it’s very diva. And the song, the new album kind of gives diva, too. So, it all works together.”

Dasha said Lemonade Mouth has always been “so iconic to me,” and now, she gets to resurface the anthem and reintroduce it to both older and younger generations. She spotlighted one of the stars of the film, Bridgit Mendler, 33, who switched careers since her Lemonade Mouth days. Now, Mendler is the CEO and co-founder of the tech startup Northwood Space. Dasha marveled at the “bada**” move. “It’s just women doing whatever they want in the world, and that’s the vibe here.”
