Myths About Hydration: Drinking enough water is super important during summer, but there are some myths you need to know about. Experts are myth busting these:
- Myth #1: You need to drink eight glasses of water per day. A good goal is to drink approximately half your weight in ounces of water each day
- Myth #2: Water is the only thing that hydrates you. Milk, fruits, vegetables and other water-based foods such as celery, other beverages are hydrating too
- Myth #3: Coffee is dehydrating because of the caffeine. Since you take in more liquid than you lose while drinking coffee, it doesn’t have enough of an effect to lead to dehydration
- Myth #4: Being dehydrated just means you’re thirsty
- Myth #5: Thirst is the only sign of dehydration. Other signs are dizziness, weakness, fatigue, headache, dry skin, dry mouth or fatigue
